The Bristol Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA), part of the South Gloucestershire and Stroud College Group, one of the largest providers of education in the West of England, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Lecturer for our BA (Hons) Commercial Dance for Stage and Screen programme. This role is a thrilling opportunity to join a dynamic team, fostering creativity and excellence in a rapidly growing programme.
As a Undergraduate Lecturer at BIPA, this role is pivotal in preparing students for vibrant careers in a competitive industry. You will develop and deliver high-quality, engaging course content that meets both academic and industry standards. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering both dance technique and programme modules, ensuring students graduate with a broad and versatile skill set.
Feedback and continuous improvement are at the heart of our ethos. Therefore, delivering effective assessment feedback will be essential, ensuring students receive constructive and actionable insights to enhance their learning experience.
Beyond teaching, you will serve as 'Personal Tutor' overseeing projects and nurturing students creative and original ideas. Additionally, you will provide 1:1's to your allocated students, offering individualised guidance to help them achieve their full academic and personal potential.
Collaboration is key at BIPA. You will work alongside colleagues to continuously develop and improve our undergraduate programmes, contributing to enriching the education and student experience. Our academic year features two extensive seasons of productions, offering you the chance to contribute artistically through choreography and direction, bringing dance productions to life as part of a creative team.
Maintaining and expanding industry connections is crucial for keeping our programme current and relevant. You will play a role in organising projects, workshops, lectures, and networking opportunities, engaging with recruitment activities to widen participation and raise BIPA's external profile. Our commitment to student recruitment growth and widening access involves close collaboration with schools, colleges, and external organisations.
To be considered for this exciting role, you should have a degree or extensive experience in professional dance and choreography, and proficiency in teaching a wide range of dance disciplines relevant to commercial dance for stage and screen. A proven track record of preparing students for successful careers in the dance industry is highly desirable.

This role is a thrilling opportunity to join a dynamic team, fostering creativity and excellence in a rapidly growing programme.
As a Dance Lecturer for Further Education/Post 16 at BIPA, you will play a pivotal role in preparing learners at post-16 (equivalent to A-levels) for further higher education study and their careers in dance. You will be responsible for teaching dance sessions, running technique classes, and contributing to study pathways. Both the Dance and Musical Theatre pathways have well-established delivery teams, and this role will support and expand upon the existing framework.
Feedback and continuous improvement are core to our ethos. Therefore, you will deliver effective assessment feedback to enhance student learning, focusing on driving technique improvement and skill development.
Collaboration with colleagues is key. You will work together to enhance the curriculum and student experience, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best educational practices.
You will also bring your expertise to productions, contributing to choreography and direction as part of a creative team.
To be considered for this role, you should have a degree or extensive experience in professional dance and choreography, and proficiency in teaching a wide range of dance disciplines relevant to commercial dance for stage and screen. Experience in preparing students for further education and careers in dance will be advantageous.
